ARTHUR – The Township of Wellington North and the Arthur Optimist Club are pleased to announce that a 15-year lease agreement has been signed between the Township and the Club for the Arthur Seniors Hall (244 Isabella Street, Arthur).
The lease agreement was approved by Wellington North Council on Monday, June 24, and is effective Monday, July 1.
The building at 244 Isabella Street is Township-owned. This agreement will see the Arthur Optimist Club pay the Township $1.00 per year annually on July 1. The Optimist Club will operate the hall, looking after general maintenance and cleaning, as well as capital expenditures. The Optimist Club will receive revenues generated from the facility.
The Arthur Seniors Club will continue to hold their events at 244 Isabella Street and will be the main tenant of the hall. The Optimist Club will honour all rentals that have been booked through the Arthur Seniors Club. The VON will also continue running exercise programs at the hall throughout the year.
“I would like to thank Council and Staff for their support in finding a new lease on life, so to speak, for this property,” said Wellington North Mayor Andy Lennox. “I would also like to thank the Arthur Optimist Club coming forward and leasing the building and ensuring it remains a viable asset for the foreseeable future.”
“The Optimist Club is proud to take over responsibility for the Arthur Seniors Hall, beginning July 1,” said Scott Densmore, president of the Arthur Optimist Club. “The Optimist Club plans to hold various fundraising events at the hall throughout the year, with plans to hold an open house this summer (date to be announced soon). The community’s support at these events will be most welcome.”
The Optimist Club is also accepting bookings of the hall for birthday parties, family gatherings, reunions, meetings or any other gathering where extra space may be needed. Those seeking date availability and other information are encouraged to email arthuroptimistclub@gmail.com.
