On Monday, February 10, 2025, Wellington North Council approved the 2024 Year in Review publication for release to residents.
The 2024 Year in Review outlines the activities undertaken by the Township in its priority area of delivering core programs and services, as well as the new priority areas established by the 2024 Strategic Plan: Shape and support sustainable growth; deliver quality, efficient community services aligned with the Township's mandate and capacity; and enhance information sharing and participation in decision making.
The initiatives and accomplishments included in this document are the result of many different stakeholders working together to build a strong Wellington North. Throughout 2024, the Township maintained a forward-looking approach, working closely with the community and staff to make progress on these priorities.
Some of the highlights of projects and initiatives that were completed in 2024 include:
• More than 400 community members attended our two Volunteer and Newcomer Celebrations.
• More than 600 spaces were offered through our Summer Day Camp program (Mount Forest, Arthur and Damascus).
• The reconstruction of Smith Street in Arthur was completed, including the installation of a pedestrian crossover.
• Installation of a pedestrian crossover at the intersection of Main Street North and Durham Street West in Mount Forest.
• Wellington North Culture Days were held from September 20 to October 13.
• Wellington North Famers’ Market celebrated its 12th year of operation.
• Various upgrades at both the Mount Forest and District Sportsplex and Arthur and Area Community Centre.
• A 100% rating (for the 17th consecutive year) in the annual Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks inspection of the Arthur and Mount Forest drinking water system.
“I would like to congratulate staff and all of our partners for their tremendous efforts to deliver the important services that make Wellington North a wonderful community to be a part of,” said Mayor Andy Lennox. “As a Council, we look forward to continue working towards the priorities identified as part of our 2024 Strategic Plan.”
The 2024 Year in Review was developed to share some of the activities that have taken place in the last year, as well as to increase the level of accountability and transparency with the public. Reporting in this fashion is one way that the Township can demonstrate its commitment to providing a high level of service to the community while adding value and using resources responsibly.
