MOUNT FOREST - On Wednesday, June 26, the Mount Forest Lions Club presented the Mount Forest Aquatics Ad-Hoc Advisory Committee with a cheque for $250,000 towards the construction of the new Mount Forest Outdoor Pool.

For the Mount Forest Lions Club, the decision to support the new outdoor pool build was one the club firmly believes in.

“The Mount Forest Lions Club have a long history of supporting pools in our community,” said Lion Vern Job, noting that the Lions built the first pool in Mount Forest in 1948. “The Lions believe in making the community a better place, and Mount Forest is a better place with an outdoor pool. We’re excited that a new pool will be constructed in Mount Forest, and the Lions are proud to support this worthwhile project.”

Sherry Burke, chair of the Mount Forest Aquatics Ad-Hoc Advisory Committee, expressed the committee’s gratitude to the Mount Forest Lions Club for its support of the new outdoor pool.

“We are extremely grateful and appreciative of the Mount Forest Lions Club’s support of the new Mount Forest Outdoor Pool,” said Burke. “The Lions are tremendous supporters of our community, and for them to contribute this significant amount of money to the new pool is amazing. Thank you to the Lions Club for diving in and helping us build our future!”

The new Mount Forest Outdoor Pool will be located on Princess Street, beside the Mount Forest and District Sports Complex. The approximately $5.3 million project has a community fundraising goal of $2.5 million. Once 80 per cent of the fundraising target has been met, next steps in the construction of the new outdoor pool will begin.

The Mount Forest Aquatics Ad-Hoc Advisory Committee welcomes the opportunity to speak to local committee groups, service clubs and businesses about the new Mount Forest Outdoor Pool.
